Free The Planet! Internship Description
Since Free The Planet! works with thousands of students across the country, it's crucial that we stay in communication with them through our newsletter, website, email updates and phone contact. The Intern writes, updates and disseminates campaign materials like action guides, fact sheets, campaign information for the website, and email alerts. For instance, over the course of the internship, s/he may research facts and figures for a new campaign, write the basic information about the campaign to put on the website, write a campaign action guide to tell other students all the basics of the campaign and what they can do to help win it, write a fact sheet to distribute about the campaign, create a petition to the campaign target and send out copies of all of the materials to students across the country so they can work on the campaign. Interns must have excellent writing and research skills.

Qualifications & Requirements
Interns should be articulate, motivated, creative, responsible, and have a serious interest in defending the environment through grassroots organizing. Interns in our Washington, DC office generally spend two days a week working with us. Please check with your career center or internship office to find out the requirements for obtaining course credit for your internship.

Supervision & Training
Together, students and Free The Planet! staff develop projects and a week by week plan for their internship. Staff and interns also conduct individual progress meetings throughout the internship. However, interns should expect to be flexible and do most of their work independently with little supervision. When possible, trainings are scheduled for interns to learn organizing skills like working with the media, building a group, planning a campaign, and building coalitions.
