Free The Planet! Speakers
Over the years, Free The Planet! staff have trained thousands of student environmental activists. Each member of our staff has extensive training in campaign strategy, grassroots organizing and environmental issues. Therefore, we're able to speak about a variety of issues and skills. The presentations and trainings above are standard ones we run. However, there are plenty of topics not listed that we're knowledgeable about so if the topic your campus is interested in hearing about isn't listed, please contact us.

What are the benefits of hosting a Free The Planet! speaker?
Whether you're working to implement a recycling program on campus or to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, bringing a Free The Planet! speaker to you campus, will help you educate, inspire and motivate your school to take action and protect our environment. Our trinings and presentations are tailored to your campus and the needs of your group.

What's involved in bringing a Free The Planet! speaker to campus?
The cost of bringing a Free The Planet! speaker to campus includes a speaker's fee for the staff time spent planning, traveling to campus and conducting the workshops and speeches; and the cost of the speaker's travel to campus, if s/he isn't already in town.

Fill out the form to let us know that you're interested and we'll let you know what the cost would be to bring us to your school. If your group doesn't already have money in your budget to bring a speaker to campus, the Free The Planet! staff is available to help you make a plan to raise the money necessary.

In addition, in order to host a successful event, you'd need to:

• reserve a space for the event;
• arrange for any A/V equipment necessary for the presentation; and
• recruit people to attend the event.

What will a Free The Planet! speaker do while at my campus?
While on campus, a Free The Planet! staff person will run and participate in a variety of activities. We work to do everything we can to be the most helpful to you while we're at your school. We can:

• do one or multiple workshops and/or trainings for your group or the whole campus;
• participate in a typical group event, like tabling, and offer feedback; and
• meet with the campus newspaper.

For example, the University of Idaho Environmental Club recently brought a Free The Planet! speaker to campus. While she was there, she did the following things.

• Made a presentation titled "Fair Trade Coffee: How Your Morning Cup Can Help Farmers And The Environment," that was open to the whole campus community and brought visibility to the Environmental Club's campaign to get Fair Trade Coffee on campus.
• Held a Saturday Teach-In with trainings on Recruiting for Your Group, Running Successful Campaigns, and Building Visibility For Your Group for the Environmental Club and leaders of other campus groups.
• Was Interviewed by the student newspaper for an article they wrote about the Fair Trade Coffee presentation and the Environmental Club's campaign.

What materials will a Free The Planet! speaker provide?
When a Free The Planet! speaker comes to your campus, we bring all the materials to make the workshop or presentation successful. For all campaign presentations, we use a power point presentation to illustrate the visual elements of the campaign We also provide handouts for all workshops and presentations. For issue presentations, handouts include fact sheets and suggested reading for those who want to learn more. For trainings, handouts include how-tos, samples and worksheets. In addition, we can often bring a big prop to campus to advertise the event, such as our inflatable wind turbine for a Renewable Energy presentation.
